Greetings from Dallas, TX

Like many of you, I'm a car guy. I've owned over 30 cars over the years mostly Mustangs. Now I'm older and have a great job that allows me to buy different things and cars. I'm now collecting. My first dream car purchase was my black '91 ZR-1. I recently picked up a very nice '00 911 (996) too. I also have a 78 Vette (soon to sell) and an 87 944 (for son to learn about cars). We both daily drive trucks. Trucks are great dailies and awesome for moving cars and parts.

My next car to collect will be an FD3 RX-7. I think in many ways it is the best of Japanese sports cars. I've drivenbut never owned one. I have also had 4 Miatas. Still regret selling the 94R.

timeframe to buy will be 6 months out to 3 years. I have a lot to do to the ZR-1 and 996 in the meantime.

When my dad was in the auto testing business his company did durability testing on the silver FD in the Yamaguchi book. When I was really young dad had a lot of RX2s, RX3s, one RX5 and 3 RX7s. His 3rd RX7 was one of the first turbo IIs in the USA. He flew out to CA to drive it back to TX.

I will be watching the classifieds for a while. If I contact you, I am a serious no fuss cash buyer. I flew to Denver with certified check and drive my 996 home in March. I'm no tire kicker. Have fun and keep the shiny side up.

They are doing very well on bringatrailer and some are having luck in rennlist too, but it really is a buyers market for any older sports car. Good luck.

Is it a 986? 8k is logical then. It's too low for a 996 unless it has a blown engine or over 250k miles. If you have a runner by driving 996, it'll be gone almost instantly at that price.

also if you ever want to do some ZR-1 and single turbo photos and driving, I'd love to. A lot of auto mags compared them back in the day.
