Hey guys. I'm a student at Purdue University (also known as that place with the lame football team) and I've relatively recently come into possession of a 1st gen RX-7. Always been quite a fan of the rotary engine and I'm looking forward to a fun experience with the little car. I got my interest from a friend who owns a slick 2nd gen, and I've been around him long enough to know a decent bit about the cars. Even helped him out a bit with a rebuild. I've also poured over the 1st gen faq section, so hopefully my n00b period will be a little less taxing on you guys.

Anyway, the car: It's an '83 GSL that I acquired by a stroke of luck for $500 from a woman who I met by chance in a summer class at a community college. She had divorced her grease-monkey husband, somehow got the car in the deal, and wanted to get rid of it (I didn't inquire as to the details, but it must have been nasty if she took his car!). Good interior, kinda ugly paint, very little rust (rare for Indiana), and some surprising upgrades, including a full Racing Beat exhaust and a Weber side draft. Hadn't been run in a long time and wouldn't start, but it didn't look stolen and everything else seemed okay so I bought it on the spot.

After some basic tune-up and a new battery, it now runs, but still needs a lot of help. So here I am! Look forward to talking to you guys
