Got to love that Wankel rotary, new member from RI
Hey guys and girls, my name is Danny and I am pretty new to the rx7 scene. I have always really been a motorcycle person, but lately have been drifting over to the car personality. I was introduced to the rx7, and have done hours and hours of research about rotary engines, how they work and why to get one.
I do not yet have an rx7 but am in the market. I am interested in the turbo 2 and found a nice 88 Turbo 2 FC that is not running at the moment, but the body is in really good condition. And then I am drawn to the convertibles too. Being a semi bike person I like the idea of the open roof, and found an 89 n/a vert in pretty good condition recent rebuild for like $2k. So I am torn on what to go for seeing as I eventually want to run the turbo 2 engine. But anyway, very nice to meet you all, sorry for my ramblings lol

Well, Danny, that's some interesting ramble full of specific cars, $$$ and plans on what you're thinking. It all looks good, you just need to take it in steps. If it's not a daily driver scenario, just try to find the best rolling chassis possible, then shop for the engine and try to score the complete wiring harness at the same time. The rest of what to do can be found in the 2nd Gen Tech board's FAQ thread on how to make it all work together. First, get that chassis and save it from the crusher!

Hi everyone! My name is Danny and I live in Rhode Island. I had introduced myself here before but at the time did not have an rx7...now things are different and I just picked up my first rotary, a 1990 RX7 Convertible!
I was interested in buying either a TII or a convertible, and had basically decided it was going to be a turbo II because I have my motorcycle too, and did not want the rx7 and the katana to be competing when it was nice out. I went and test drove this 1990 that I saw at a dealer just to see if I would like the verts as much as the hard tops, and this one was in such good condition I could not let it slip by. There are little things wrong, like i need a new muffler end pipe and had to fix the head-lite switch and wiring harness (thanks to this site) because I had no gauge lights or tail when I stopped for gas after driving it almost all the way home from the dealer, but otherwise it is in great condition!!! I have some pics...
