Hey guys and gals! I'm real excited for my first post here, I've recently been lurking more and more and felt it was time I introduce myself and become part of the community. I'm a mechanical engineering student and a gearhead looking to get myself a rotary. I've owned four cars: a 1996 Toyota Camry (first car and my DD atm), 1994 Mazda Protege (almost the same 1.8L as the NA8 Miatas!), 2000 Mazda 626, and I just sold my 1990 Miata. I loved the Miata, but I'm now in a spot where my fun car doesn't also have to be a reliable car, and want to get something I can keep for the rest of my life. I've decided on an FC because I think Mazda's take on the Wankel is a fascinating piece of engineering -- and of course, the gorgeous lines and pop-ups sure don't hurt .
For the past month I've been scouring classifieds for a Turbo II at a decent price, but I might cave eventually and grab an NA then swap the engine out at a later date (if all goes to plan, I'd have half a century to decide whether or not I want to keep it NA). I want to revert it to/keep it mechanically stock though, so a swap isn't ideal. Reading about all the problems, successes, and adventures you all are having with your cars makes me more than a little excited to get my hands on one too! Until then, here's a picture of my former Miata as a reward for reading through this whole introduction.
