If you get it running, avoid touching the throttle in any way when restarting the car. Let the ecu judge fuel injection.

As next steps consider replacing the spark plug leads and check the function of the coils. They may show spark, but be weak.

If you take it to a shop, have them check the injectors for leaking.

There's an o ring on the pump and mine failed and would **** pressure there instead of properly pressurizing the system.

In the end if you know a shop that specializes in 7's I bet they will fix it quickly. Keep us posted! It's a beautiful car.
Thank you for the kind words! As mentioned above I expected there to be some growing pains, especially because it had not been driven much for the last decade. If I have to replace a few things now it will all be worth it in the long run.

My front plate came in the mail yesterday and getting to see it on the car put a massive smile on my face.

I'm sure after this (hopefully minor) delay there will be many more smiles to come

I wonder why you don't have a drain plug.

Was the fuel tank changed out at some time?

I have heard of fuel tanks without the drain plug, though.

Whichever shop you go to, make sure they know about the coil thing.

And check their work regardless.
I can't say for certain that the tank was never changed, but I can say that everything appeared (to me at least) to be factory. Perhaps the bolt is just hidden under the undercoating, but after what I saw in the tank it didn't seem logical to dig through the coating to try and find a bolt.

Thank you so much for the troubleshooting advice, resources, and moral support. I've enjoyed the warm welcome to the community from you and others.

I knew going into buying one of these that it is a complicated car that I would have to learn to work on myself for it to be an economical purchase in the long run. I'm no mechanic by any means, but I learn more every day thanks to the help of others. If nothing else I know that I at least tried to figure it out before paying some other dude who is smarter and owns more tools.

Hopefully your right and it's just a silly fuel issue. I'll keep everyone updated!

Congrats on a nice FD. I bought a young (old) Fd about 5 yrs ago, I was second owner, car only had 38K miles on it. The FIRST thing I learned was ALL the plastic
pcs regardless of location were and are extremely brittle, whether under the hood or inside the car. Be gentle and patient (if possible). The fact that the car is pristine
will deceive you into approaching tasks on the car as usual. There is NOTHING usual about these cars and OEM parts are obsolete and hard to find.
Good luck and have fun!

On Buyee search "Mazda RX7 RX-7 FD3S".

Select "englsih" on the drop down menu part way down on the left any auction item.
