MA Finally have the time, retired yea!

Hi everyone, I can not believe that I joined this forum back in June 2014 and could not find the time to do this introduction. New to forums, so I need to learn all the rules and stuff to be a good member and all. I bought my 1988 GXL right off the showroom floor in February 1989 as a leftover model, it was assembled in August 1988, so it has a few 1989 parts that throw me a few curves. I will post some pictures when I learn how to do it, I have recorded almost all the maintenance done since day one, except for the occasional oil change. Speaking of oil, I let mine get two quarts low and lost an apex seal, put an Atkins rebuilt in (by myself, you should of seen me dragging it into the house to change all my original parts onto it!). That was eleven years and 68k miles ago.
I am 63 and was a printer all my life until the great recession, lost everything and then went into security as an armed guard. I was also in the Army from 1976 to 1980, stationed in Fort Bragg and Berlin. My hobbies are the GXL, guitars, and stamp collecting, now I am looking forward to spending time doing them. This forum will be great to share my enthusiasm for rotaries and the ups and downs that go with it.
I have made the effort to keep everything as stock as possible, I can't believe I am using the original radiator hoses and vacuum lines! So now it is time to restore her, I have some problems that you have threads about, so I will try searching here for ideas before starting a thread. Here is a list of non-stock parts on my vehicle: Racing Beat Exhaust from the manifold back, Ultra 8mm silicone ignition wires, DTSS eliminator bushings, Mazatrix short throw shifter, 10th anniversary turbo wheels. Can I call my car "Bone Stock" still? The replacement engine was street ported and milled for 3mm apex seals. Nothing but the idle mix and speed along with the timing has been touched (if it ain't broke ........). Now it is getting long in the tooth and I can't wait to start getting her back in shape. These cars are getting noticed more now, I find notes under my windshield wipers and my mechanic gets inquiries about it when it was in his lot. Yea, we got braggin rights, so I am in good spirits knowing everyone here got my back!

Have a great day,
Gary

That's awesome! I love the idea of owning a car that long since new. That way you know everything that's been done and how its been treated.
