Finally got an RX-7!
I am as of recent the owner of a 1979 Mazda RX-7! It’s got a full bridgeport and has 52,000 original miles (most of which were on a track). I’ve dreamed of having an RX-7 for years and have had many opportunities to, but I finally actually own one. An FD is still the dream but I am more than happy with my SA.
Motor wise the car is already set up how I want, I will be upgrading to a Holley 4 Barrel carb but other than that I won’t change much. The exterior and interior are the main things i’m going to be changing. The exterior needs work but is overall pretty solid, need a repaint, a few panels replaced but other than that it’s not too bad. The interior needs basically everything replaced, it was a track car basically it’s entire life so it was stripped out but hey, it’s got carpet!
Welcome to the forum!! Your 79 has a ton of potential and is still quite a beautiful car! It will make an incredible restoration project! Do you know any of the car's history? Would love to see a build thread on the car in the 1st Gen section!

Thank you man! I’ll definitely have to post some updates on here! From what i was told the car started it’s life as a race car, It was bought straight off the lot and never got registered or anything, the original owner raced it from 79-84 and then left it to sit when the GSL SE came out and forgot about it. It sat for 30ish years and ended up getting impounded, but in order to get a car back from being impounded you have to register it, and since it had never been registered the back fees were too much for him to justify it so he just let them keep it. It then went to auction and sold for $300 the PO bought it off the people who purchased it off the auction and got it running and discovered it had a bridgeport. After he discovered this he decided to tear the motor apart and rebuild it and make it an even more aggressive bridgeport. It’s a great car it just needs a little bit of loving!
