finally back

I pulled the trigger and got myself another rx7. I bought a 85 gsl-se back in 1987 which i have had till 2001 and sorely missed.

Now I have a new job, an ex spouse and saw the following on craigs list where my company relocated me.

"MAZDA RX7 Project: 1985

I have a 1985 Mazda RX-7......the body is in good condition/needs a paint job. Interior is in great shape, with no cracks in the dash, etc. Some wear and tear in the drivers seat, but that's about it.
Here's the deal.......the rotary engine and transmission are shot. This would be an excellent opportunity for somebody that wants the above vehicle, and has time to fix it up. I'm reluctant to sell this at all since I was planning on doing all the above myself, but found that I had neither the time or the money to do so.
Please, serious inquiries only. Keep in mind this car will be antique status when the 2010 cars are released later this year.."

I went and looked at and even though he was a 2nd owner since 87 he didn't know the engine. The engine does turn just has lost compression. the clutch drops to the floor when you put your foot on. I am trailering the car to my house tomorrow.

hopefully the compression is the same as when I left my old one at my father's house and he neglected to start it regularly. 2oz of atf in the spark plug holes, 20 minutes of smoking like a chimney and hopefully the seals will expand out enough to start this adventure.

he had it sitting 2 years so i think the clutch is hydraulic issue. I'll trialer it away so he doesnt see me add fluid, send of huge smoke signals and then drive it away for the 400 dollars I gave him.

I'll be searching here on this fine sight but I figure. 1000 on suspension, 1000 on redoing the interior, 1000 on paint, then I'll start on the motor. induction, exhaust, fuel flow. But I do miss the fuel injection I used to have. should I yank the engine and find a 13B or stick with the 12A?

Ideally I want a daily driver that isnt horribly frightened of hondas and looks so much nicer. maybe 300hp would be nice.

anyway.. hi and I'll be reading... A LOT.
