NV FD in Las Vegas

Hello fellow rotar-heads!

My name is Jeremy and I drive a 93 VR RX7 Base Model with tan leather.

Although many on this forum searched for years before finding their dream car I had the luck (or misfortune) of having mine find me.

My FD is named "Howard" after the original owner. He loved the FD3S rx7 more then many people love love their kids. It was his dream car and he had to have one. He bought the car brand spanking new from the factory and babied it. It never saw snow or rain or even a hard wind (so I was told); even while living just outside of D.C. Unfortunately he suffered from leukemia and was in and out of the hospital for many years and past away before ever experiencing all of the hair pulling wonders of the FD. His widow held onto the car for many years but being unable to drive a 5-speed finally had to say goodbye. She couldn't let his pride and joy just go to anyone so she sold it to my uncle since he was a close family friend. With two kids, a large house, and an MG kit car he was restoring the FD again went unattended. The first time I was over and saw it, I fell in love. I had always drooled over the rx7 in magazines but being now 20 years since it's original production and only three model years produced in the states I figured I was SOL for ever getting my hands on my own. Seeing how much I admired the car and knowing if he kept it it would only get further neglected he resolved to let me buy it off of him. I was ecstatic to say the least. One problem, I live in Las Vegas and the car was in Virginia.

So after weighing the different options, my gf and I decided we would fly out, visit with the family and take a cross country road trip in a car that neither of us had ever driven. Another slight hiccup was I didn't know how to drive a manual. So we arrived to "Howard" with only 34k original miles bone stock and embarked on an unforgettable road trip. Although not well versed with a stick shift it didn't keep me out of the driver's seat. Towards the end my gf complained I didn't let her drive it enough. The trip only further embedded the FD into my soul and now several months later I still grin ear to ear every time I drive it.

I have a lot planned for the car down the road but I'm not in too much of a rush to get it done. Half of the fun is getting there. RX7Club is a great resource and has helped tremendously in getting Howard back in tip top shape. You'll be seeeing more from me in the future.

That's a great story. The fd is also the nicest car i've ever had the pleasure of driving, its so light on its feet. In stock form its easy to drive, involving and feels fast at any speeds. That must of been a sweet trip if it was also the first time you drove it! Keep loving it and it will love you back

I haven't taken it up north yet. We drove back on 40. It was a great trip though. My gf had never been East of Oklahoma and I had never seen the southwest outside of Nevada. It was a pretty easy drive and there were some really fun things to see and do. We took 4 days but if you wanted to you could easily cut it down to three. But take some wrong turns. We did (Not intentionally) and had a lot of fun opening up the throttle on some back country roads. I think more than a few farmers thought a tractor was going out of control; got to love the sound of a rotary.
