NC FC3S from North Cakalacky

Hey guys, new FC owner here and just joined the forum. My name is Blake and I am a ASE Certified Mechanic with ambitions to turn this diamond in the rough, into a street/drift event car. I picked her up for $900. The body has NO dents, or rust, but hideously primered. 13B NA from RX7 world in SC, swapped in by previous owner. Odometer says 87,xxx on the car. Has idling issues, but I am reading up on the manual to figure out all the adjustments. Let me guys know what you think!

And yes, as soon as i got home i took off those huge obnoxious rear wheels and put on the stockies

Yeah the interior isnt in bad shape. My co-worker drives a 93 REW, maybe you guys have met? Cant remember his rx7club SN. The motor is showing signs of a spun rotor bearing, so it will be a swap project. Body is straight with minimal rust, so for 900 with a bad engine i think i barely made a "good deal"

Time to pull the engine and trans. Strip/powerblast the engine bay. Prep for a clean swap. While my broke *** saves up, ill tear this 13b apart for learning purposes and a little fun.

yea 900 bucks sounds pretty good considering the rarity and the uniqueness of the car you acquired. kinda sucks that it isnt running yet (?) i feel you on that one. my radiator caught a hole, and i changed it, but as soon as i changed it my clutch master cylinder is leaking so my clutch pedal kept sticking to the floow. gears wont engage. so i gotta get that fix. im thnking about doing an ls2 swap bc i kinda need reliability more than the uniqueness of the rotary engine, but we shall see.

but nahh i havent met him. im the only one that ive seen so far around the nc state area with an fd, and theres one guy on campus with an fc. would love to meet some rotary owners though. get sad being the only one to talk about rotaries in car meets haha

Yeah I got her running now but it appears to be in limp mode from the OMP. Wont have a chance to test it and the harness until sunday.. Clutch slave cylinder line just gave out to rust, so i have the same issue. I cant decide whether to take this shell and run with it (Full Peripheral Port, strip entire car, new wiring, standalone) or get her running enough to drive it and flip it to purchase a turbo model.

Im ambitious but smart enough to know a s5 NA to turbo will take a lot of $$$ and even more time. I also believe a turbo swap setup will run like crap compared to a turbo model with everything there.

As far as the PP build idea, my father is a machinist so i have access to any tools i need, just not sure ill be happy with the power after the work. I might just be patient, get this 7 running decent, sell it, buy a turbo model. Upgrade turbo, go standalone, etc.. I think ill be happier and much wiser spending with that route

Here is what the "idle" sounds like right now. Smoke tested it, one or two cracked vacuum hoses. No change. Replaced a cracked check valve @ TB. No change. Adjusted both narrow and full range TPS via backprobing and Ohm method. No change.

Cannot pull any codes??? Seems like its in limp mode to me. When i drive it, it will detonate/backfire whenever i press the throttle. If i feather it, it will slowly creep up in rpm

Traded one of my cars for it, but it was a good trade in my opinion. People list em high & expect the lowballs. Some people are willing to pay crazy prices for cars...
