hows it going everyone,
My name is johnny and im looking for an rx7. Im mazda fan and i miss my miata cuz it was great lil drift car but i had to let her go, parents needed help. Now im looking for an rx7 that i can work on and get learn something new. I am mechanical experience, but rotaries are still new to me. The problem now is i need your guys help for making my first purchase on an rx7.
I can find non turbo rx7 86 - 89 sometimes 90 within 200-700 bucks. But the problem i dont know how to inspect the vehicles if i should go ahead with the purchase. Some of them dont run for sitting so long so ill be taken a spare battery hopefully they turn.
Also is their certain years of rx7 that im suppose to avoid? i.e. miatas had to avoid mostly 89-90 due to short nose crank, usually the crank pully would fall of.
The other thing i found an 87 rx7 no motor, no tranny nor driveshaft but body is in great condition for 300, but wondering how hard would it be to find a motor for them and whats their average rate for cost?
Also how hard is it working on rotary engines?
My plan is keeping it NA for it can last long be reliable daily driver, but if i do boost later on like couple years would be keeping it stock cuz i dont wanted to break down the road.
With the rx7 ill be taking it to autocross and few drift events to have fun with the car
