dohhhhh, hi guys!!
whudup guys! i'm here for uh rather strange reason. i'm looking for an rx-7 for a friend of mine. so i figured the best place to come and learn was uh forum. my friends pretty new to the car scene, but i'm not.. i drive uh 91 vr4. here's a pic so you can associate the name with a car...
i think bein around my car and whatnot made him want a turbo car as opposed to big mean v8's.. but he wants something rwd to have some fun, ya know
hence rx-7!!!
i'm already searching uh bit, but i just need a little advice and some generation differences. ya know, just which bumpers tend to really like, even if it's just something little. and it HAS T0 be turbo. and i figure he should start with no heavy modsreally (maybe just basic, exhaust boost guage...etc). that we he can learn to work on it himself
anyways, thanks yall , i got work, sorta

Why does it have to be turbo? You can achieve plenty with porting in a rotary...
Sure, a turbocharger can get you more power too, but bigger ports don't have turbo lag and don't appreciably change the reliability of the engine. A turbocharger is a rather inelegant way to get power out of what is truly an elegant engine design (rotary).
What I'm saying is, don't narrow his options this early. See what you can find to drive and try out, then decide if it MUST have a turbocharger! You might be surprised... ;-)

plus, i feel like it would be easier to replace turbos for more power than to open up your engine, ya know? like, i'd be able to help him replace a turbo or two, but since i've never even touched a piston from my car, i wouldn't feel as safe helping him do that on a car that's foreign to me anyways
