Definitely need some help
hey everyone.
im not necessarily new here. i had another account once. but i never really told a story so here it is to whoever cares.
i own a 1986 n/a. i bought the car about a year ago. when i first bought it it had 118k on it. it ran great and i loved it. ive always wanted an rx7 its been my fav car since i was like 10. i didnt and still dont know barely anything about the rotary engine and there lies all my problems.
now a year later the car has about 129k on it. its my daily driver and everything is going wrong with it. first, for about the past 2-5 months the car has started flooding itself(as i understand all of these do). i dont know how to fix it but everytime i turn of the car it ends up flooding the next time i try to start it. so i have to do the fuse pull thing and pull the egi comp fuse and crank the engine with it floored for about 20 secs and then replace the fuse and try it. doing this about 3-6 times in order to get the car started. needless to say my cars starter is now friend and my car is out of commission until i get a new one. if anyone can help me figure out how to stop this i would be forever greatful. even if its something as annoying as pulling some fuse everytime i cut the car off. i just want it fixed so i dont have to take 5-20 mins getting the car started everytime.
also i guess a rebuild would do good. since i understand these engines wear out at about 125-175k. if anyone knows someone in spokane washington or kennewick pasco or richland washington that works with rotarys for fairly cheap and does a good job. i just want my car to run and be the good fc i know it can be.
one last question i have. my tail light cover got rocked and i now need a new one on the passenger side. idk if i want the same s4 tail lights. so i was wondering if the s5 round tail lights can be directly replaced for the s4's without any altering. thanks a bunch and i hope some of you out there can help with my rx7 problems.
Thanks,
ryne

Yes the S5 tails can be swapped in no problem.
If you kick the RPMs up and shut the car off at the same time you won't have to worry about it getting flooded out (most cases). Flooding can be caused by many things not just a tired engine. I have seen NAs last 200k+ so you may not need to rebuild it.

If you are willing to drive a little bit, I found a genius in Puyallup WA, on Canyon, who has been building these things for over 30 years. I will get his info for you if you want. It is just a little private shop, not a dealership or anything, but he only works on RX7 and Miata. PM me for more.
