PA Dan's 83 RX7 GS LE

Hello, rotary community, my name is Dan. I am from Williamsport, PA and I'm a technician at a Ford dealer. I have recently acquired a 1983 RX7 GS LE in a trade with a friend, i traded him my 99 Yamaha R6. Anyway, I got the car about two or three weeks ago and I have really enjoyed it so far. It is not in great condition by any mean but it seems to be mostly original. The engine is stock with emissions equipment and rat's nest removed, but all this has been done very poorly from what i can see. It also has the original LE wheels that I like very much. It's been repainted "panda" style at some point. The car was very down on power when I got it, turned out the cat was causing a large restriction in the exhaust, because after I removed it that car really came alive. Needless to say I had a huge grin on my face after that drive. Still needs loads of work, but I have already been here on the forums for a few weeks doing a TON of reading and searching, mostly on carbs which i know very little about. Well, there is a little about me and my car, I'm sure I will be talking to a lot of you in the future.

Welcome Dan! And hello everyone! Take care of that car, the first-gens are getting harder and harder to come by, and they're really great little cars. I've got an 85 GS that's also pretty ratty, but all original (except the stereo, the clarion cassette deck HAD to go! Lol), with about a quarter-million miles on it. Paid 400 bucks for it 3 yrs ago knowing nothing about rotaries, and it's been my daily driver ever since.

I'm just a cook, but can rebuild a carb. Just follow the recipe, and you'll have a sweet runner.

Good job on that trade!
Hope you get it looking nice. I don't daily drive mine, but seems everytime I take it out someone always says something, especially the middle aged guys. Always getting compliments. I've never seen another FB on the road, so I'm sure ppl are surprised when they see it as well.
Good luck with your new FB.

Load up some pics!
