Closet lurking Australian comes good
Well, I've been hanging around the place like a bloody bad smell, so I thought I'd better come out and say g'day to youse all.
Here's a little intro for those who aren't bored already: I've bought a series 8 FD. Its red. I thought it went very well until my new rotary mechanic friend said it wasn't running properly. He said one turbo wasn't working. Hell, I thought it was running just fine. I seem to be able to keep up with most things on the road, but he says nope, it aint working, and who am I to disagree? He promises to fix it, too, without too much sweat, apparently.
As you can appreciate, all this kind of talk about real performance kind of intrigues me somewhat. I know these rotaries are supposed to get up and go and for the last 4 years I have been enjoying the pleasantries of topless driving in a very sweet mx5, but I knew about the legend, and then one day, it all hit the fan. I saw one in a car park and from that day on, I knew the little mex's days were numbered.
I have basic plans of bringing the car back to as new as possible. I like the stock look, though the first thing I did was ditch the factory wheels for a proper set of gunmetal grey BBS rims and some decent rubber. Externally, that's about it. Internally, I want to upgrade the sound system. Its an eclipse 2 din cd player with tv etc but nothing works because the frequencies are all Japanese, heheh. Good excuse to rip it out and put something half decent in there.
Mechanically, I think I'd like to keep it stock. I know a lot of people suggest I dump the twins in favour of a single, but I kind of like the stock aspect, and to find a stocker must be getting harder and harder. Who knows, the lure of more horses which are near at hand with just a few mods will probably win out in the end.
Anyway, enough rambling. Thanks for reading if you've gotten this far. I'll raise a beer to youse! Cheers folks! I'm in!
