AL Building a Spirit-R in the States

Hey guys, I'm new to the rx7club and to RX7s in general. I'm like that long time listener first time caller. I've always loved RX-7s, my father had a 'from the dealer' 89 rx7, and it was an amazing car. I could tell even only being 6 years old. I loved the sport suspension button. I thought it was the coolest thing in the world. But anyways, basically I'm trying to do what a lot of people dream of. I want to basically build a spirit-R here in the united states. I live in Alabama, and I'm part of the army. Basically I want a brand new rx-7, but since they don't sell them, I'm gonna build thenewest possible version, an 02 model (99+). I'm talking the recaro searts and 2000 steering wheel. I'm looking for a good starter car to convert over to a late model, so I'm currently the high bidder on a car on ebay.

If I would have known about this resource of a board, I would have looked on here first for a car, as well as opinions on where to start.

Previous cars I've owned. 1990 Acura integra (put in a sound system, it was an auto)
2002 Mazda Protege5 (Turbocharged it with a t3/t4, among a lot of other things)
CUrrent: 2007 Mazdaspeed3 (Lots of mods too)

I noticed it's 5 posts to post on your own or something without moderator approval. Then 10 posts to see images and waste their bandwidth basically. Anything else I should know on post score? lol.

ALso on this board I noticed, the sponsors have their own section, but other than googling the sponsors name, is there a way to easily go to the sponsors site/store and check out their stuff? (RX7Store) is pretty awesome.

hey, if your deal falls through you can probably find a running 5-speed fd on here for like $8k, you don't want an auto do you?

I forgot to mention I'm going to convert it to LSx. So auto doesn't matter. I guess it's not purely a Spirit-R then is it? lol

Awww LSx. How dare you call it a Spirit-R! Haha, just giving you some ****. The LSx motors are pretty amazing. Good luck with your project.
