Long story incoming!
After high school I joined the Navy. Once through boot camp I was assigned to a ship. I brought my RX7 to Virginia only to find out my ship was changing home ports! Now I needed to get my car from Virginia back to Colorado until I could pick it up my next leave opportunity and take it to California. My dad volunteered to drive the car for me to save me shipping costs. On the way to Colorado, the water seals failed and after towing the car to his backyard, it has sat there for 16 years.
I recently re-ignited my love for with working on cars and specifically restoring them. I have a 1990 Ford Bronco Pre-runner that I fully built myself. Now that the bronco is "done", I need a new project. While visiting Colorado for Christmas, I finally decided to lift the car cover and see how she looked. As soon as the sun hit the old beat up paint, I decided to take on the extremely crazy task of rebuilding my very first car. she's still rust free, which doesn't make this task TOOO stupid. The plan is to get her running again, and eventually get a turbo in her. I love driving cars fast off-road, so I have the idea to make this an off-road build. Not a 100 percent on that, but that's the fun of a project, it's gonna change directions a couple times and I'm ready for the ride!
Looking to gain a TON of knowledge from the community and hopefully buy some of your old parts. Anyways, here's some pics of the Rx7, my Bronco prerunner, and my daily.
-r Joe High School FC. still in pretty decent condition around the body. SOme dings and dents. which is good, after 16 years, i'm pretty sure it's getting gutted and everythigns getting replaced. my 1990 ford bronco. full long travel suspension, motor and axle swaps and a ton of other mods. a real joy in Baja!
Welcome!!! That's an amazing car to restore!! It will feel amazing to have the car back on the road again and rebuilding it will no doubt bring back some great memories!
Welcome to the forum. Bronco looks ready for some off road action for sure. FC looks good as well for sitting in Colorado for all that time. Look forward to seeing the evolution. Good luck and have fun.
