BC Barn Find

Hello My name is Landon, and i'm 26 years of age.

I'm from Victoria, B.C, Canada and I've recently purchased a 1984 GSL-SE from someone who had got it from a barn. (I have never seen a car in a barn, to be honest, it seem's to happen all too commonly!) My previous car was a 1986 Toyota MR2, and I currently daily drive a '92 Delica.

I've had a lot of other sports cars but, I always wanted a GSL-SE and was over-joyed to see one for a great price & condition. (Mostly)

I paid $1,000 for my new GSL-SE because the PO had just purchased a master and slave cylinder for the clutch, which both had failed, which was included with the car.. I promptly replaced both and drove it home!

There is evidence the passenger side door was in an accident, and someone had spray painted the car a possible red/orange before it was "barned" and the paint has faded, chipped, and looks VERY BAD. (Which is kind of a blessing for getting such a great price).

Other than the bad paint, there is a dent on the rear passenger side, behind the door, where the PO drove onto the car with his truck.

All in all, at first, it wasn't sounding like a very good car.

But the engine bay was SPOTLESS, apparently the engine had been rebuilt right before it was barned and it looks and runs VERY well.

Whoever painted it did a pretty poor job and the original red is still in all the tricky places to paint, so I'm planning to repaint it original.

Also, the interior, which is fabric, is very very clean and has original radio stack with EQ and Joystick.

At first I was concerned it was 13B swap in, as there was no power steering, A/C, fabric interior, and the engine clearly looked a lot better than the exterior, but after checking the VIN, it all appears to check out.

First order of business:
... repair rust and pull giant truck-induced-dent.
...paint car.
... remove pre-cats, main cat, repace with new hi-flo, cat.
... replace worn suspension/steering components and bushings.

and any other recommendations!

Pictures to follow!

Excited to join the group and keep another 7 on the road,
Landon
