TX Another n00b from Houston!

Howdy guys..
Name is Matt Blehm.
I've been a Nissan guy for the last 10+ years, but came across a great deal on very well prepped FB race car built for SCCA E Production and couldn't pass it up.

Of course I know almost nothing about these things, but bought this one based on its reputation and circumstance. I bought the car as a roller, then bought a 13b from the original owner, and now I need to figure out how to put the thing together!

I am Looking into a Mazdacomp box, but I'll probably settle for a Miata gearset in an RX7 case until I learn to drive the car well enough to make it worth my while to swap trannies.

So anyway, here I am.. looking to learn a lot and have fun racing the new car when I get it put together!

Hello Matt and welcome. Congrats on the buy. Hopefully you'll put it together and get a chance to enjoy the rx7. Good luck and drive safe.

Thanks guys..
Still have quite a bit of work to do to get the car ready to race, but I'm making progress.

I was hoping to have it ready for the Feb race here in Houston to shake it down before COTA in March, but I'm not going to hold my breath there. Maybe I'll shoot for April and drive the 240SX at COTA. would be great to have the RX7 ready though.

We must agree to disagree. both cars can be set up to handle extremely well. my S14 routinely outcorners similarly prepped Rx7s and is very neutral... but that could also be driver skill w/ proper setup.
considering my "new" rx has as power/weight of roughly 9:1 and slicks, while my 240 is 15:1 and DOTs, there can't be a comparison between these two...
Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing what the car will do. Just need to find me a transmission and flywheel so I can get it back on the track.

Very true. my buddy spent a bunch of money on tubular control arms, coilovers and various suspension goodies for his s13. I beat him by almost 2 full seconds with my fc at one of our local autocross events. we had a friend of ours tune our stuff. had my front camber plates on backwards so had 0* of camber in the front while the top of the tires were about 1/4" away from the frame. but like you said, driver skill is a huge thing. i still rub it in his face. haha good luck with your project. I'm liking it for sure.

edit: I had GSP coilovers. that's about it
