Alabama Newb
Hey guys.
Im from Montgomery Alabama and I just purchased myself a 1986 RX7 FC. I am ignorant as to trim or any such thing...but its Automatic and N/A (FTL right?)
I have mainly been into S13's specifically..and I got this because it was a steal..400$ ..I have always wanted an RX7 and in theory it should run so it was a cheap investment. It was owned by an elderly man who passed away recently..and it was driven regularly until he died and the car has simply been sitting. It will not start but I figure ill pour a little ATF down the intake with a fresh battery and see if itll crank up and run for a little while and get warm again
In all honesty I know so little about these motors..I know how they work and what the basic moving parts do but I still am scared about taking care of it. It hit me I might have gotten myself into a huge mess when I opened the hood and realized I have no idea what Im looking at. Well..except for..Ignition coil here...Wires go there..so rotor banks must be there ^_^.
I will post up pics when I get the car home this weekend. But I hope I can take this car places and I hope I can learn a lot while I am here.

I will have pics as soon as I get it back to the house :-/
It will not start because it has been sitting for a year. I went out today with a trailer and NOW they lost the key...and the wheel was turned to the right...We tried to ****** it up with a come along and spent about 2 hours trying to pivot the front and rear in line ...but it got dark and we had no trailer lights and not risking a ticket...we left (Plus we were taking up this poor mans time XD)
It was a one owner car, owned by an elderly lady who bought it with 51 miles in 1987 (Now that I have the title) (Its an 87 not 86 as previously mentioned) and it has 150k miles on it as it sits..I guess her husband was the one who drove it alot though.
She drove it until the day it sat. In THEORY I don't see critical failure resulting from the engine sitting. However..I know rotaries are finicky little things that must have things in good order to work AT ALL.
The only problem I can think of is rust in the cooling passages (Dispite the anti corrosion properties of the coolant..which may be nonexistent after a year) And the fact that there has been no oil pressure for a year...
This makes me worried about trying to start the car suddenly...with no oil protection the wear will be immense until the pressure kicks back up.
The interior is very clean..much cleaner than my S13 coupe which met a tragic end recently...And a clean interior has been a recent wish of mine. The rear bumper has scuff marks but no broken paint anywhere except for a 2 inch section on the trunk lid with no clear coat. and a few shallow dents in GOOD spots to be pulled out.
the WORST things about the body are only the windshield wiper arms (rusty) and the trim right above the door at the bottom of the window (The coating has flaked off and its rusty...but can always be replaced/refinished to look somewhat normal.
Oh i need to know if these tail lights will bolt on directly to an 87 FC

They seem to be the same shape ^_^ but just want to know.

Man do FC's not have height adjustable steering wheels????
I played with it for a while whilst trying to disable the steering wheel lock and never found anything to raise or lower the wheel.
