He guys I have looking for a nice original 7 for awhile.
I finally came across a nice unmolested 79 with 46k miles. Original everything, no rain, no snow, no rust. It hasn't been registered or really driven in 17 years.
Anyways I literally beat another guy there by 15 minutes and scooped the car up. I made arrangements to come back down and get the car a few days later.
I decided against my better judgement and drive the car 70+ miles home.
To boot I got a speeding ticket on the way back down in my truck!
So the plan was my buddy would cruise down with me and he would follow me home in my truck. All was going good for the first 20 miles until the car died and wouldn't fire back up.
Diagnosis- loose negative battery terminal, it was shot so we found a wood screw in the bed of my truck and jammed it in there. She fired right back up. Awesome! We hit the road again.
I forgot to mention this is being done on major highways, with an illegal plate. Thank god I had a new plate for my work trailer and just slapped that on. Also tires are dry rotted so it was sketchy!
Ok back to the road trip! I got about within 25 miles from home and she decided to die again. Thankfully I was able to coast off the highway and down an off ramp into a parking lot!
After a bit we diagnosed a bad fuel pump. Hopped in the truck and headed to the auto parts store. Bought a battery and universal fuel pump. Swapped everything out and she fired right up and finished the drive home!
70 miles took about 6 hrs but it was fun and I was smiling the hole time even broke down lol.
