IL 1990 Rx-7 Convertible

Greetings. I recently acquired this 1990 Convertible from the original owner (relative). I would detail the car and then take it for the day and bring my girlfriend, now wife, out for the day and enjoy. Honestly, I thought it would be fairly easy to finds parts and to solve some of the issues. I am finding it more difficult than I thought. I hope to be able to have it on the road soon. Looking forward to a few car shows and weekend drives. I am hoping to learn more about these cars and the rotary engine with the help of folks n the site..

welcome to the board.

congratulations on your car.

yes, it's a little weird finding parts (depending on what you're looking for), but it can be done. along with the other sources, you will soon have access to the Classifieds section of this board at your disposal.

what's wrong with the car?

Thanks for reaching out. The top will not go down under power, just beeps. I read that you can screw in bolts on motor to disengage the motors. That worked, so it is now manual. The parking brake does work, however the dash does not light up showing it is engaged. Is there a sensor that could be bad that is not allowing the top to go down?

Also headlight motors were bad, replaced, but now they stick up about a quarter inch above hood. When I lower manually the motor kicks in and raises them back up.

any help would be greatly appreciated.
