1988 rescue

Hi, my name is Bryce, 18 as of Nov 30! Last june I was driving around and spotted out a 1988 Mazda Rx-7 GXL N/a sitting in someones backyard (open yard). It sorta interested me so I went over and knock on the door. Turns out this Rx-7 sat from 2001-2013.. The old man explained that it just stopped running one day and he never tried since. I got in this bad boy and watch looking around and notice a bunch of interior parts and other stuff piled up, I ask how much he wanted. 600 bones was his response, the car was on my driveway the next weekend. At this moment, original intelligence of the rotary motor was 0. All I knew is that I needed to swap the fuel pump, which the old man had given me a brand new one. I started with that and noticed my gas tank was half full with 12 year old fuel in it, it rusted out as well.. Ended up buying a parts car, 1986 with no engine or tranny. What it did have though was sask. safety and mechanical inspections in May 2013.. Sadly the owner had only had the car for about two week with an ls1 in it before the throttle suck and he hit a curb.. I stripped that car down to nothing and a neighbourhood wrecker took it off my hand for free. I ended up swapping out the fuel pump, fuel tank, and all the fuel lines running up to the engine bay. The guy I got the parts car off of had known a lot about rotaries and taught me a lot, I had no idea that if one spark plug was shot the engine wouldnt start as well as the flooding and cooling issues with 2nd gens. I ended up changing spark plugs and wires. Not to mention the extensive cleaning I had to do to this car, there was a mouse nest in the engine bay as well as a 12 year old leaking battery on the passenger seat. I swapped out the seat and put turbo 2 seats in and a tinted rear hatch. After changing the oil, oil filter, air filter, and a new battery. I decided that it was time to try and start this bad boy. With an actual mechanic beside me and a fire extinguisher at the ready I turned over the rotary engine for the first time in 12 years, joy and happiness was the next thing to happen as well as a weird dance. After knowing the car ran I swapped out brake rotors and calipers all around, servicing the brake fluid as well. Next was the radiator, I heard about bad stories with coolant seals and such, so when I was dealing with the coolant I had my fingers crossed the whole time. In the end, coolant seals were intached and i continued servicing all the fluids. Finally before hitting the road for a test run around the block I had to deal the with the shot suspension.. So I bought tein coilovers.. Yes, a little hardcore for a first test run but I got them very cheap.. I took the car out and no problems, ran like a dream and shifted well, could use a wheel alignment but thats all. Drove it around/bagged it around for about a month then the 12 year clutch went. Replaced that and it still runs.. Fell inlove with rotaries and the distinctive sounds they produce.. Looking to buy a turbo II to mod out now. Still driving the 88 N/a as an everyday car/beater XD I love it though
