1987 rx7 gxl ,5 sp, 135k mi, commuter
I am just learning the rules for the forum (my first).
my 1987 GXL was almost completely original when i bought it in 2019 (108K mi) but i have had some parts replaced to be my daily driver:
radiator, water pump, battery, tires, belts, plugs/wires, oil pan gasket, rear shocks, fuel pump, clutch, ac expansion valve, all fluids.
window regulators/switches, the main control switch clusters, all from Mazdatrix.
all work has been done by local Mazda mechanics since I bought it (more $ than i paid for the car now).
I have records all the way back to the original bill of sale so I have a pretty good idea of it's history.
as far as i can tell, i am the fourth owner and the previous owner was a member of this forum (retired electrical engineer).
the one complaint I have is the engine will crank but does not want to start after engine runs for some time.
it is very dependable driver, when it has time to cool off (i just pop the hood for quick results).
lucky for me, my 40 mile commute is almost all country road and highway (5 lights from my house to work).
someone has responded to my question but now i see there is an introduction to the forum required.
i had the same year and model (but different color) in the mid 90's but a family situation forced the sale.
thank you for your time.

Welcome to the forum!! Sounds like a very well maintained car! I'd be concerned about the lack of hot starts and begin diagnosis with a proper compression test with a rotary compression tester. We can dive further into that issue in the 2nd Gen tech section. Would love to see pictures of the car!
