‘79 RX7 Owner
I have a 1979 RX7 that my dad bought when he went to college. It was then my first car and the rotary blew up in it and I couldn’t find anyone near me to rebuild it. I built a Chevy 350 and dropped it in with a t-56 trans behind it.

Clean 79, love the air dam and wheels. Could you tell us more about the v8 swap? Also noticed that your hood prop is on the passenger side, judging by your door sill sticker what is your build date?

my serial number is 12,768. The spoiler and air dam are a body kit my dad put on it back in the early 90s. He also put those wheels on it around the same time. I built the Chevy 350 that I put in it. It’s bored.030 over with flat top pistons, Lunati bootlegger cam, aluminum speed master heads, and the installation kit I bought from Granny’s Speed shop out of Washington. The original intake that I had on it was a weiand single plane. It was low profile enough that I didn’t have to put a hole in the hood. It now has an edelbrock performer rpm high rise. It runs much better with it. I am in the process of figuring out how I want to make clearance for in the hood. My biggest issue that I’m still fighting is that it wants to over heat at idle. If I’m moving it stays cool as can be.

If you have the radiator from granny’s that is the culprit. It a ron Davis radiator so you wouldn’t think it…….but I fought I forever with every fan combo imaginable. Cheap one from speedway motors and mine stays cool as can be in s. FL. I had the lower left outlet moved up to where the RD one is and never a problem since. Under 200 all in. I like the paint. Nice ride.
