Make that limited commercials.
I think it is the worst waste of money I have come accross. Than again, I only spend 2.5 hours a day in my car so there is no way in hell I could justifyit. I would much rather put a computer in the trunk with my 8000 MP3s.

I am with Dnewman. I can't see paying for radio. I am going with a computer install. I'll have MP3, DVD, GPS, and be able to control my Wolf3D realtime if I want.

Laptop under the seat works well, Route up to a 8 inch LCD with touch screen mounted to the dash, add a small kayboard, or use on screen and you're golden.

i was thinking of doing this also.... there is an EPC from www.saintsong.com.tw that looks really cool for this (very small). Also, microsoft is developing Windows CE for automotive (or something like that) looks like it will be the way to go. It will have voice recognition and fit in your dash. Clarion AutoPC and some others are using a primitive version of it now. I think im gonna wait for a good one to come out instead of trying to put a desktop pc in my car.

LOL @ dnewman
My sentiments exactly! Right now to hook everyone it will be little/if no commercials. But eventually when they find out they can make a shitload more $$$$'s. They will add commercials. Now if they make a system that could deliver almost every major radio station in north america. Theres a kick *** metal station in New Orleans, LA id like to get !!!
Or how bout a **** station? Did i say that? OOOoooopppss :o

I think that most of the stuff on mp3car.com is old stuff, like 1 or 2 years old (a lifetime in technology years). One thing that I saw somewhere that looked really interesting was somebody wrote an mp3 player program for clarion AutoPC. This might be the best set-up available right now, considering that if you put a home pc into your car, the sound card sound quality wont be near as good as the one on the high-end car stereo.

thanks to all the response, i've changed my mind about xm -
i'm now looking at the archos 6000 6GB player (or maybe the player/recorder for an extra $100)
its about the size of a palm pilot, a lttle thicker and i am thinking of runing the cable out of the unit into the aux input on the head unit in the car. the archos has a usb port for quick downloads and you can plug it into the cig lighter for power.
check it out at znet or cnet for a review - znet does have a video of it.
