At wits end with Adding Amp & Sub to BOSE system

Ok, Ive tried just about everything and Im tired.
Ill catch you up-to-date.
::Im simply adding a 200Watt Amp and 8" sub to the BOSE system
Ive never had a clean sound come from the sub. I know the sub is in good working order cause I hooked it up to my friends system.::

Heres what Ive done thus far...
1. Wired off the head unit rear speaker lines. Tried a hi/low RCA convertor, and when the sub was on, it was a low sound that sounded like distortion and not bass. Turned up the ***** on the RCA Convertor and nothing changed, I was told it was one of the better ones.. but the ***** broke when turning.
- went to Plan 2..
2. Kept the same wires off the rear of the head unit, but this time tried the HI input clip off the AMP. *same result, low sound and rather distortion not bass. - call installer friend for Plan 3...
3. Was told to 'piggyback' off the rear Bose 6.5" subs. To use the lines coming FROM the amps TO the speakers. I found a thick RED and GREEN wire going to the Speakers so I made the green one Negative and the red Positive and hooked it up to the HI Input off the amp.
Same crappy result.

The only thing that I can think of left to do is try and reverse the wires.. meaning, try the red wire as a negative the and the green as a positive. Does anyone know if those are indeed the correct wires?
Can anyone that has done this same thing help me out? Im ready to sell the sub and amp and leave 'well enough alone' But first, I turn to this great forum for help.
Thanks in Advance!

Well check this out. I ran it under 1 channel instead of bridged and that **** was hitting like crazy! It doesnt work bridged!? Perhaps the crazy 1ohm setup for the Bose is messn things up. Well I guess Ill leave well enough alone, assuming my amp and sub arent going to blow up.

I used to run the rear inputs (BEFORE the bose amp) into a high-low converter ($10 generic one) and then into a Sony amp, always worked perfectly for me.
