Where do the wires go?

when the wires for the door and windows go through the body, do they go into a connector or do the all go different places.
I am having a electrical problem with my power windows on a 88 Vert, I believe the power is shorting somewhere in the harness causing power to the window motor somewhere after it leaves the door but so many wires are near the fuse panel I can not find where they are spliced or connected together. I had power to the motor even without any switches in place, power was available to the window motor regardless of where the switch position was when I hooked it up, now I have no power to the motor at all, Please give me a direction to start?
Thanks

I had to take the switch/control assembly apart ( a bunch of tin rocker conductors will fall out ) clean all that **** up with a good chemical componate cleaner for electronics * I like PUREtronics. Good cleaner, GREAT BUZZ.
Assemble and enjoy healthy power window operation.

* Just noticed yer a local. I have the FSM on CDROM for yer ride. PM me.
