whats the black box behind front speakers (BOSE)

im trying to install a pair of 5.25" mb quarts in my door. the previous owner had some shallow mount 5.25" speakers so the outter bracket is already hacked to accept my mb quarts. however, the driver hits this black plastic box (with a little foam sticker thingy on it). whats that black box used for and can i just remove it?

oh and yes, i already searched but found nothing.

Well, I would guess that those are the amps for the Bose system. The Bose headunit is not powered.

ok i figured it out. i took out the whole bose speaker bracket assembly today and the black "box" is not a box itself..its just part of the housing. the amp (small circuit board from what i can see) sits right inside the bracket.

redseven80, these are the brackets that sit inside the doors.
