Question What is the white "tank" behind the bay for the head unit ?!?

Can someone tell me what the white fish tank looking thingy is behind the head bay in a 90 vert ?
I can't flush mount my head unit with rear RCA cables. It almost won't fit with just the Molex connectors.
I have an 89 FSM, and it dosn't mention a peep about this "box".
It looks like an A/C condensation tank (?!?).
I'd put up a picture, but it's too damn cold out there today.
Options:
1) Safe to cut out a square & glue in a sealed recessed box for clearance ?
2) Is there a VERY low profile 90 degree "L" adapter for RCA interface ?
3) **** off the whole project & go iPod with headphones.

TIA!

That's the heater core and vent box. You likely can't get away with cutting it.

I have seen pretty tight angle RCA cables and/or adapters. I'd go that route.
