What do you guys thinks of this kit ( fenders and 1/4 panels) ? Trying to find something that flows with the body and not too drastic. Picture the quarter panels molded into the body though.

Please leave this in the 3rd gen forum. Nobody worthwhile travels to the interior/stereo/exterior forum

 

From the front: I love the front fenders and would also love the 1/4 panels if they were molded.

From the rear: I don't like the huge notch in the front fender. Is there any purpose to that besides allowing your front tires to kick rocks down the side of your car? Also, I don't care much for the notch in the 1/4 panel. The notch isn't as drastic as the front, but I still think it would look better with a smooth line.

Overall: Pretty cool. I just re-read your post and noticed that you would mold the 1/4 panels. Good idea (I could have saved a lot of typing above)

 

I kinda like the notches I just wanted to get some opinions and make sure I don't end up being a egroll.

yeah, i like it....but those notches up front....i dont know about those.

Change to a mazdaspeed hood. Then do something about those indents in the front fenders thats it! Those rims are amazing, those fat lips are nice.

 

I guess I'm the oddball out...I don't care much for the kit. Not to my fancy. Makes the car too outta proportion from too many angles IMO.

 

I'm with ol' newbie boobie on this one.

As much as it is subtle compared to some other kits, its still a kit. Still will get old fast, and no matter which way you combine them, it's either been done before or doesn't flow at all.

Best bet is sticking with OEM parts. 99JDM Upgrades for me! Mazdaspeed hood. Perhaps fender flares like on David Hayes car...and thats it.

You'd be surprised how amazing some cars look simply lowered on the right set of rims...no kit needed. FD is no exception

I'm biased to factory stuff in all cars though, my opinion's biased :P

 

Nice, but I don't like those fins on the sides of the front bumper. But nice overall.

What is that little square thing on the passenger side (left) of the hood above the hood pins?

I would love the front fenders if they weren't cut off where the air duct is. As for the rear, they need to be molded.

 

LOL...this is probably shooting myself in the foot but... I didn't mean that statement toward ALL kits. I just think THAT kit (among many others) don't flow very well or look too nice IMO. I'm personally a HUGE fan of the C-west front & rear and Mazdaspeed GTC skirts (which is why I have 'em on my car). Kinda like this:



Yea, C-west and MS have been played out, but they still look good in my eyes. 99spec is real sweet too. But then again, in my mind, you don't go w/ OEM kits if you're goin all crazy w/ mods etc. If I went w/ OEM, I woulda wanted to make my car as close to a 99spec FD as possible... interior, exterior, engine bay, wheels, the whole 9. But I chose a diff route...a kit that expresses my taste, and any mods that I like to go along w/ it. But that's just me.

If I were to ever go w/ a totally diff look for the FD, I mean a complete facelift, THIS would the kit I would go w/. Too bad they don't sell this one...

Regardless how I modify my car (funny you mention making it JDM outside and inside...cause thats the plan for the current FD), even if I were to take the 20b route as David Hayes has, mine would look just the same as his, JDM front, lowered on some beefy tires with a lip. Done. No matter if my engine's stock or there's another rotor inside with 200+ over stock....I want it to be georgious and make my knees shake when I walk to it...any kit (IMO) just looks "neat" but gets old fast and doesn't work...

that kit looks cool, the rear flares look good like that i would not mold in the flares because they are kinda wide so if they were molded the car would look to round from the back but i never seen those flares molded before so they might look good.

The front fenders would be better if they just mimicked the shape of the factory fender. I'd only run those on a track/race car, and then I wouldn't bother with any rear-fender molding, i'd just slap on the pettit flares, and a GTC nose and airfoil wing.

I believe somebody makes wide front fenders that look like OE's... and for s street car, i'd have something done in metal on the rear... no way would I try to mold FG to sheetmetal.

 

i think its nice... for a track car if its actually effective... if i were building a show car i would also considder it, but me, i'm sticking to a sleeper (if i ever get to start working on it again)

 

It's a nice kit. Not common like the CWest or Mazdaspeed kits/knockoffs that are everywhere these days.

as long as you dont put the fins on the front bumper i think you will be ok, and yeah those rear fenders should def be molded IMO.
