what body kit and color? 94 FD
getting some body work on the FD. im still undecided on the kit and the color im going with. kits/colors im looking in to:
1. 99 spec front, OEM style side skirts, and the car painted red.
2. FEED front bumper, oem sides
3. sanai works front bumper and side skirts
i originally wanted to paint the car black but black is such a PITA(my sti is black). and seen many red fd's on here and i love it red. trying not to spend so much on the kit tho so im picking the kits up from shine auto. any input will be greatly appreciated. thanks

the car was originally like a dark blueis green color, but i guess the previous owner took it to maco or something and got it painter silver. they did a really crappy job on it os im redoing the whole car. i was looking in to the burn out kit but then i would have to get the fenders and the rear bumper to make it look complete IMO. plus im trying not to send too much money on the car thats why im looking at the kits i posted above. im leaning more towards the sanai and the 99.

Bring it back to original Montego Blue. lol, It's the fastest color by far!
I hear ya about the Burnout kit. You'd have to either set up the whole car, flares and all, or it just doesn't look complete.
Personally my 2nd choice would be all '99 spec Mazda parts. If you ever sell the car, OEM (or at least OEM looking) parts will always be the most desirable/valuable.

99 spec.
The new vintage red looks great. Much better than the old red IMO. I have a VR car that Im repainting TGM but if I had to have another color besides that it would be...
-snowy white
-pearlescent white
-chaste white
-non mazda ultimate opal like on the GTR spec V

It changes color drastically based on the angle. It would look pretty pimp on an FD since it is so curvy. The color difference might be to drastic though Im not sure.
I never really liked red before seeing it on an FD in person. To me though, unless the paint is kept in ultimate condition, red looks only mediocre.

Ummm red isnt as hard to take care of as white or black (I don't know first hand about taking care of white or black). From what people tell me, black is really rough because its impossible to hide a scratch and white is rough for obvious reasons. I think you just have to wash red a bunch and thats it. I agree with you though, red can look fantastic. Goodfellas and rx7rage have great VR cars. Im sure they baby the hell out of their cars though.
Im curious, what other colors have you seen and considered?

When repainting a car do consider the fact that what ever you paint it there still will be signs of the old color. If your car's exterior is red and the door jams are still green then that will be wasted effort. I was always told that if your going to change the color of the car, make it a similar shade of color making the color change less obvious.
When it comes to body kit, everyone has their own taste. If your a baller with alot of money to spare go baller =)

The feed front is too aggressive for OEM sides, it will not flow together. Your better off with option 1 or 3. Most of you know what my preference is soooooo no need to go there. Just realized paint can starting adding up quickly, I budgeted $3500 for my paint job and now I am almost double that for candy apple red. Sigh.

Good to hear you are gutting to car to change the color. It is most definately a neccessary evil when changing color IMHO. White is not that back to take car of. I definately agree on the black, I am on my second black car and I do not think I will ever do it again. At least not on anything I drive on a regular basis. I really like the look of a titanium grey or a charcoal. It looks really classy on the FD and it is easy to take care of. Plus with your car already being repainted silver it should make it an easier transition (except where the MB shows now).
On the body kit, I think the 99 would be your best option from the sounds of what you really want to do with this car, but if that is out I vote for the feed bumper with feed sides. The feed sides are pretty cheap and no real reason to paint if you go carbon fiber or just spray the frp ones black. They look better dark than paint matched.
