Way to adjust or repair door latches?
My driver's side door latch seems like it lets the door have a bit too much freedom... which I think is causing an annoying rattle sometimes (it stops when I press on the door).
Does anyone know if there's away to adjust the latch or clasp in order to make it tighter, or to hold it closer against the door seals? Neither of them seemed like they were adjustable like the hatch locks...
It also seems like the rubberized coating on the door-side lock may have worn off, since I remember picking it out of there. Perhaps that is causing the rattle?

89... it should be the same as any second gen.
I can't imagine where you could adjust the latches... even if you unbolt the part that's on the body, it only bolts on one way because it's a single hole, and it's beveled.

if its the whole assembly thats loose, then take the door panel off(becareful due to age) then look at the door behind the door handle and remove the black cover piece and that will get you one side with a 10mm and an extender bar. the other side is not to bad, but you have to pull back the plastic and the sticky tars **** that will get on you no matter what. If its the inside latch, look at the bars that go up to them and see if the plastic is still good. That somethings wheres out and will cause you latches to sag. The only other thing that i can think to tell you is lube all the rod ends and lock mechinism up with graphite or something like that. Also look where the door latch meets the car frame on the door itself. There are a few bolts right there that my have worked loose, try that too. Anyway I hope this is what you where asking and I hope this helps some. If not let me know. good luck.

I don't think it's the latch that's loose... I just think the it doesn't hold the door close enough to the door seals. If it held it closer than it would probably be tighter.
