Washing Engine?
Two summers ago, done by a detailer for $25.00. He covered ignitors, alternator, and stuffed the air intake. Light spray with Simple Green equivalent, wash, rinse, blow dry and used 303 Protectant on the hoses. Near perfect. Took about 40 minutes.
Started right up and ran perfect.

I did it about ten minutes after asking the question and when I started the car there was a mushroom cloud and a bright flash... J/K... It started right up, fishtailed out of the parking lot and ran like it loved me just a little bit more...

ok, go probling around with a conductive material even when the car is off and tell me how much welding you do.

maybe you should have said a trash bag... less welding involved.
but today's cars with dis are damn near waterproof, so the whole point of covering things up is moot.
Just as a follow up to this thread. I just took my car to the car wash and did the high press. soap and rinse inder the hood. I avoided some of the odvious sensetive parts but blasted it really good. I let it drip dry for about 10 mins and it started as usuall. I did'nt cover anything btw

I cover all the bling with oven bags and use simple green some old tooth brushes and alot of elbow grease.
I would be carefull using a power wash on you motor. If yours was like mine was prior to the replacement of the stock wire harness you should use caution.
Other then the typical..dont hose down your altenator advice , tuff oil stains come off easy with a little denatured alcohol. I use simple green wipes for the hoses and Amor All wipes to treat the hoses.
My motor is clean enough to eat off , and it didnt happen in one cleaning . Takes a few times to get it right, but now its just easy mantience keeping it looking new.
