Vintage Red vs Blaze Red (FD3S)
Getting ready to have my entire car sprayed as it is currently relatively faded Vintage Red....I'm having panels painted and they're not exactly matching (see my repainted fender in picture).
Anyways, I was thinking of going Blaze but am having a hard time finding decent pictures to the compare the two....anyone have any good ones of Blaze Red fd's!?

I have always preferred a slightly darker Red to my FD's Vintage Red; consequently I have always LOVED how my VR FD looks in the evening sun/sunset.
The bewitching hour.
This FD owner claims his is painted in older Blaze Red. Looks great IMO.

PS, I l like your fender's color- maybe we just need fresh VR instead of 22yr old VR.
Ferrari Red-
Viper Red-
Lambo Red-
Undisclosed Red (contact owner)-

So... I prefer more Blue in my VR it seems.
Wiki-
The Purkinje effect (sometimes called the Purkinje shift, or dark adaptation and named after the Czech anatomist Jan Evangelista Purkyně) is the tendency for the peak luminance sensitivity of the human eye to shift toward the blue end of the color spectrum at low illumination levels
Here is a VR FD shot in the evening that caught my eye because that is how my VR looks to my eye in Dusk lighting.

Thanks a million, really diggin the Ferrari red even though it's pretty amazing how it contrasts in the shade.
Anyone know know who makes the same formula....can't imagine you actually have to buy Ferrari's paint?

Lighting is a funny thing! All these colors are nice.....guess it's hard to make an FD look bad
Call me crazy, but my VR tends to fade out pretty quickly at dawn(very similar to what BLUE posted)....looks awesome during the day IMO

Just like our Mazda Vintage Red you are going to be able to get the same "color" Red for any of these pictured through most of the paint systems or have them custom mixed to match.
If you want it to be exactly like the Ferrari Red you choose and fade like a vintage Ferrari, etc you would try to find out what paint system Ferrari used and get the color from them and put it on like them or use a Ferrari authorized repair shop (if you think the dealers/repair shops care enough to uphold original quality, which they probably don't).

Having painted in college and mixing hundreds of gallons of automotive paint... Pretty much any color can be made using a complete mixing system. You'll need to look through paint chips or get the manufacturers color code to be sure you got the right one. I painted my '85 SE a modified version of a Ford red. I left out the black and white toners that tend to mute the color and added a little violet to darken the hue. Factory red cars that were parked next to mine always looked slightly Orange in comparison.

Looks cool. I like dark red color. May I know how much did you pay to paint your ride?
