VIN plate mod/removal

What is the law or is there any when it comes to making a custom plate with my same VIN number on it, and put in the place of the original one? I have a couple of ideas while the dash pad is out, and just wanted to make it look better.. attention to detail is all. Any ideas??

Matt

im sure if you kept your origional one there and layed a new one overtop that would be ok.. as long as it stays where it belongs

check state law

In Texas as long as you are not obstructing your VIN (must be visible from the outside of windshield) or as long as you are not altering the vin you s/b o.k. I have a copy of out state penal code and that's what it the book says. (Don't ask why I have this )You states trasnportation department website or governing law enforcement agency should have that info on-line.
