weren't happy with the original veilside side mirrors because , 1) non electrical , 2) no rubber seals around the side of mirror , 3) mirror itself looked like it was of cheap quality.
so i took my original fd side mirrors to a plastic moulder and made something i liked better

Hey bro,
I've seen you cruising around birkenhead in your S15. I've got the black S7 FD you might have seen, '3VOM' plates, front mount etc.
How long you had your 7 for? Do you mind how much the kit ran you? if you had to sell the S15 im picking its pretty much up there haha
Anyway, see you around

OMG ! funny meeting someone from the shore in this forum lol,
had the 7 about 6 months now but i hardly drive it not like the s15 which was my daily driver.
as for the kit , including shipping + tax + duty fees set me back close to 25k nz, than theres the fking rims which ripped me another.
going to have to sell off one of my kidneys soon and probably my left nut too =_=
anyways car should be out next week so give us a holla if we meet on the road =D

If you're getting wheels that big, I sure hope you're going to get larger brakes, too. nothing looks dumber than a HUGE wheel with TINY brakes.
(sorry if that was already covered)

I'm not a big fan of the tuxedo paintjob. That red and black on the other hand, that looks great. As far as the tails go, I do like those left and right end pieces, and it's a good thing the kit doesn't use the center section cause it doesn't look good at all. You're doing a great job though, looking forward to the rest of the pics.

Geezz! Just sell your first born mate. You'll still have both nuts, so you can make another. haha
Would be very keen to see it out on the road. Im sure all the FD Kai boys will too.
Who did you trust to do all the body work?

each color gives the car a different look, silver with black looks more classy where as white/black and blue/black more sporty
meh, ill decide once the primer is on next week @_@

I'd say white and black seems to be the most eye catching to me. Also, that sparco gas cap, does that neck behind it come with it or did you fab that? Did you drill out the stock filler port to make that large of a neck fit in there?

I still think you should try out a custom color combination other than the average black and another color. This is a unique kit, you don't want to look like someone else with the same kit.

One of the nice things about owning a Veilside Fortune RX-7. There is not much chance of someone pulling up to the light next to you in an identical car. Paint it the colors you like, be it White/Black Blue/Black Purple/Orange. Who cares if someone in the next city or half way around the world has the same color combination on their Fortune FD.
xeroes: I really like what you did with the mirrors, that is the biggest downfall of this kit. Really a shame Veilside couldn't do better on that one. I can't seem to locate anyone in my area that can do that kind of work.

The only reason I don't say white/black for this one, is that white doesn't really accentuate all of the curves and hollows in the kit. There's no place for shadows to really gather on a white paint scheme, especially on a car such as the RX-7, and most definitely on a kit such as the fortune kit.

any plastic auto repair shop (guys who fixes up bumpers) should be able to do that type of work, only took him a few hours.
i know what you mean by a let down, i was happily unwrapping all the parts till i got to the side mirrors, i took a look at them and said out loud "what the fk is this?" the panel shop owner walks over takes one look and shook his head saying "10k kit?"
paying that much for a kit i would have thought they would put more effort into the side mirrors and gas tank door, i mean even the copied budget $50 ganador side mirrors u get from china are better than the veilside ones.
Another thing i would have liked is a carbon fibre rear wing to match the front nose, other than those tings im really happy with the kit, makes the 7 look like a super car =D
