undercoating and wheel arches

I want to re-coat my underbody and the rear wheel arches.

What have you found to be the best product? I tested some stuff but it stayed wet and sticky for months. I want something that will dry like the stock undercoating. Also, should I pull my tranny (engine is out now) and do the trans tunnel?

What should I do for prep? Simple green? Or does that leave residue.

My car has ZERO rust right now as it's originally from cali, and I want to keep it that way.

Should I just tape off the fuel hardlines or spray over them?

Basically, just give me ideas....

Look into POR 15 products.

Were I to go to the trouble of a full underbody recoat, I'd remove the hardlines (fuel and brake) first.
Put dummy bolts into the open holes so they don't get gunked up.

I was thinking of doing the same thing. I'd like to hear what people have used and their procedures.

Me three. I noticed the rear wheel wells are down to the primer.

Aaroncake took a wire wheel to the underside of his FC. He then used POR15 products to etch and coat the underbody. I got the impression he would sacrifice his left nut rather than do it again.

I'm personally In the midst of doing the same thing, However If I can put enough money into it I am going to use LineX or Rhinoliner. Its a bit costly at $10+ per square foot.

I just want something simple, easy to do and will last without being ridiculously heavy (like rhinoliner).

There are a lot of different items available at canadian tire and one that I tested stayed sticky for a very long time. It said "asphalt undercoating"... it wasn't very good.

I am in the process of applying quietcar liquid sound deadener to serve as undercoating
went as far as removing transmission, rear subframe and soon gas tank. David Hayes cut noise by 10 DB with this stuff.
