Trying to find a new color for the FD...

Alright... pending job status in the coming weeks, I'm considering repainting my FD. I'm getting weary of the MBM in certain light; you know, when the light hits the door just right and it has that solid teal blue with no "reflex". I love the MBM all times except that very specific situation.

I am not going to paint the engine bay, but jambs and lids will be painted to match. I'm thinking - 350Z "Daytona Blue".

Taking suggestions!

Hard to go wrong with silver. It's hard to make an FD look bad, just as long as it's not yellow. I think this shade of blue looks quite nice

I suppose I could try to paint the negine bay... I just don't like the thought of having to pull the motor and all of everthing to get it...

Is it really that bad to have the engine bay mis-colored, even if the jambs are painted?

Also, who has had their MBM repainted MBM?
I wonder how good it looks when it's all brand new?

They don't have the pull the engine to get the "visible" areas of the engine bay. Some stuff will need to be moved, but that's about it.

YES!

IMO, if you are going to change the color, do it right.

What do you mean? Like... pull the ABS unit, the various ducts, everything off the firewall, etc? That seems like a TON of work.

What about the DOT plates on the driver's door sill? Those are irreplaceable, right?

Honestly, I have no idea, but several members here have had it done you can't tell that the engine wasn't removed.

You'll have to talk to the shop that is going to perform the work as to what needs to be done. I doubt anything needs to be "pulled", just off the painting surfaces (so they can stay connected and just hanging in the engine bay).

that looks waaaay better than my paint! Even though my paint is immaculate, it's still a decade old and suffers the usual blemishes. I may stick with MBM now!

TpCpLaYa, once again, you're the man!
