Touch-up paint for a faded VR?

I just bought a 94 VR R-2, and mechanically it's in great shape. Cosmetically, it's not _bad_, but needs some work (3 small dents + 1 door ding, and about 20 scratches). Paint code NU (non-clearcoat)

I know the paint has to have faded some, so the dealer touch-up paint probably won't match. Any suggestions?

Dave

i bought the touch up paint from the dealership and i didnt like it. The touch up paint faded and turned white afetr 2 months of summer exposure. As for immediate results, the paint matches very well.

Your best bet is to go to a body/paint shop that can mix some touch up paint for you that will match.

Either that, or wait until you can get the car repainted.

Just wait and get the whole car repainted, it will be worth it in the long run.

Either wait for the money to paint the car full on...OR use some 3M Finish Restorer. At first I was pretty skeptical on whether or not this would be more than just a wax, but anyway I decided to do this yesterday to my now 17 year old FC because the paint was a nice faded pink and orangish color (you wouldn't believe...I wish I took some pics but maybe I can use a friends digital camera on it and show you guys what it looks like now). It took quite a long time (I did the whole car to make sure it was uniform) to do, I started at about 9:30 A.M and finished somewhere around 4:15-20 P.M (with a 1 hour lunch at Subway...damn that foot long meatball sub was BOMB!). Like I said I took my time and just had to make sure it was perfect. Anyway the results...I swear it looks like a brand new freaking paint job!!!!! The sports of orange are nearly invisible (you have to get 'lick me' close to actually see them in daylight...especially nice sunlight), the car all over has a GORGEOUS red finish to it and it's not just some waxed look. It really does look like the paint is freshly done (now I need something to help out those mouldings since they're not quite black looking in some spots...as well as the rear light housing, any advice?). I hope to get some pics of the car up for you guys to see. Damn I really wish you guys could see what it looked like before I did the restore job...I swear by this stuff now!

I think the fade will come back after a few month. Red is a bad color and fades easily.
