Yes. There's public disturbance laws. Especially in California. There's also noise restrictions for vehicles. Around my area, if you can hear the music 25yds away from the vehicle, it's grounds for a violation. I suggest you check you local laws so you won't have a fine hung around your neck.

Yes here there is, and actually if you get rude over it when pulled over etc. It falls under disorderly conduct which is a visit to the local detention facility (jail)

Cali law states anything over 50 feet from veh, violation. And in Oakland we can impound your car, per sideshow law. If you need to have it heard 50 feet away, there is something wrong w/ your hearing or will be wrong w/ it. Come sit in my FD. I can blow your ears out and barely hear it outside the car. FD has great acoustics.
Anytime of the day, there are ordinances(usually city) for loud and persistant noises. You get one warning and then, at least in Oakland, you can be cited every 15 mins if it continues(applies to car alarms going off too). And the penal code will let me walk in your house and take the offending stereo/whatever as evidence and cite you for a misdemeanor crime. Only used on the people who want to be ********.

Have a nice day
Steve
