tailight removal

Alright guys, did a search and it isn't that specific, but I am trying to do the 99 spec tailight mod and the tails are being a bitch. I have read what has been posted places, but those bastards aren't moving. I have to be missing something.

I have removed all the plastic covers/drip pans above the lights when you open the hatch (2 above the tails, 1 long one above the centerpiece). Now, supposedly that is it? You just pull the tails toward the OUTSIDE, meaning outer left and outer right, not outside as in backwards if you were backing the car up?? If that is correct I am pulling towards the outside left and right and they aren't budging, it's to the point where I am afraid if I am doing something wrong that sucker is gonna snap.

I'm a little PO'd right now, and I have a short window here to get them off while the rainstorm has haulted for a bit. I wanted to do the mod today while it is suppose to be crappy outside. Thanks guys.

just yank them about within reason outwards and to the sides, they're stubborn but they come out eventually, first times always the hardest if they havent ever been removed

rybrx7,
Thank you for the boost of confidence I went out and showed them who was boss!! Actually, I tried again but put a flat head screwdriver (covered tip with paper towl)in the crease outside the turn signal and pryed a tad. They popped right out.

Mods, feel free to delete unless you think it may help in the future.
