I have an 89 gxl coupe and just need some opinions....
I bought 2 10" Alpine Type-R's. Will a 250x2@2 ohms amp be enough to power them? i dont need anything to compete with, just enough to sound good with some thump to it. I figured it MIGHT be, because of the interior size and hatch, but i dont know much about it, so any info/opinions would be appreciated.
thanks

aight man....im currently working part time at an audio shop...ill tell you all that i can from what u told me......first of all are they 2 ohm subs 4 ohm subs or dual 4 ohm subs........second of all no 250 x 2 will not power them right...sure theyll thump a little, but thats until u burn out your amp.....i recommend looking into rockford amps because they put out about 65% more power than they are rated for.....plus you cant run 2 ohm subs with a 4 ohm amp and vice-versa, you need to find out exactly what u have and then go from there... my system will consist of 1 mtx thunder 8000 dual 4 ohm sub and an mtx 800 watt monoblock amp.....and that only pushin 1 sub, so you can definately run more power to those 2 subs...
good luck man

umm 250 x 2 RMS would blow your car away LOL... I'll bet you'll have it under 1/4 way on the amp... no way you are gona burn that out...
edit: err wait. 250 at 2 ohms.. the subs are probbably 4?? so the amp is what at 4 ohms? 125? might be a little weak. I can't belive they rate the amps at 2 ohms... that is cheating you LOL.. most are rated at 4.
mine is 200w x2 @ 4ohms with 2 tens and my amp is like 1/4 way up and the sub volume is way down on the deck too.

All amps are rated at 4 ohms, retailers list the 2 ohm rating to impress people that don't know alot about stereos. 125 per channel is enough, depending on your listening style. 125 watts per channel is 500 watts mono. The Orion HCCA 225 is a popular competition amp and is only 400 watts mono at 1 ohm. When I was competing in IASCA that is the amp I used to drive two XTR 12 DVCs and never had a problem.
