It SHOULD come off. If you can tell that the shaft is spinning with the ****, try holding the shaft with a pair of pliers(PUT A RAG AROUND IT !)Not yelling just covering my *** from harassment. Hahaha!) Maybe try and spray some lube on the threads.

Not to be a wise ***, but "Lefty Loosy, Righty Tighty"
Honestly, just put some muscle into it, I really don't think you're going to hurt anything. Hell, if you do, I have a stock shifter here I'll send you for $15.
Eat your Wheaties

Good luck,
Frank

I'll try again, its just the shifter that scares me, you can move it around in or out of gear.

You can move the shifter in and out of gear anyway when the car is off. If you're worried, just hold the shifter steady, and apply some torque to that ****.

Just crank it. If you break anything, here's the link to mazdatrix shifter parts page. Heh.

I'll have to drum one up for you.
She's 6'2" 240, and YOU can call her "Olga", Just don't call her late for dinner!
You still want a pic?
She can also remove a 13b without a hoist!
j/k
