Stock s5 Vert rear "subs". Anyone use them/like them?

I acquired a pair of stock Vert rear woofers (Pioneer 4"w/housings) and haven't purchased a head unit yet (still working on my Vert Resto project) and was wondering how they sound? I prefer a fairly strong bass "presence" but not loud thumpy bass. Do these work very well with a low-powered sub amp or perhaps using the rear channels of a head unit using a crossover? or has anyone replaced the stock drivers with a coax?

I can't imagine a coaxial sounding very good in the stock locations due to them firing low and towards the back of the seats and being so close together. If it were bass frequencies only it wouldn't be such a problem, right?

I plan on using 6 1/2 inch mid-woofers in the doors and 4" jbl coax in the dash locations. Should I ditch the stock subs and put a bass tube in the spare tire area? gimme your thoughts guys.
