stock cd player is being a tard
Everytime i put a cd in it will stay in for about 5 seconds or so...and it sounds like it's trying to play it ...and then it just spits it right back out. It's been doing this since ive had the car...about a month and a half. It's the stock cd player with stock bose components. I havent messed with anything. What could be the problem..oh yea the cd's are regular ones and burned ones...neither will play

Maybe it is really something more serious and a common problem:

But 150 USD sounds quite much!

Well i thought about gettin an aftermarket head unit. I use to be into stereos and systems with my previous car....and ive always heard it's not good to mix bose equipment with others and right now i dont have the money to get an entire new component system just because i want to get a new cd player. Do you recomend this? I cant go much longer without having my cd's.....it sucks just listening to the radio all the time. thanks a lot

Bose CD Player
You can always do an aftermarket cd-changer (FM type) (relatively cheap on E-BAY or more expensive if you opt for a new MP3 compatible type) and simply series it in with the existing system. The new unit sends an FM signal to a splice box where the large "antenna in lead" attaches to the splice box and the "out to Receiver lead" goes to the receiver plug the old "antenna in lead" used to connect to. Finally the "in from changer lead" is plugged into the other female connector. You then set you stock receiver to an FM station (usually down low on the band) and "voila", CDs play.
NOTE: The stock CD player must remain attached or you will need to construct a "Shorting plug". See my thread here on Removing the Bose CD player.

See my page for adding other stuff:
You should not modify anything of the Bose speaker/amp/enclosure system because all parts are specially designed to work together.

But there's no reason not to add another audio source.
