stock cd player?

does anyone have problems playing burned cds on the stock cd player? mine plays them sometimes, skips other times, or just plain spits them out. it doesnt seem to have any consistency, as it will do all 3 with the same exact cd.

The '93 stock CD player had some problems. There was a thread a while back about sending it back to the manufacturer and getting a replacement for some amount of money. Mine skips or spits out random CD's, just depends on the mood. I have burnt CD's that play fine, some that don't (same with normal retail CD's).

There is also this place:

However, from the price of either of those you can just buy a decent aftermarket unit and the BOSE adapter.

Hi Aron,

yes, good link, we do not have to invent the wheel twice.
But the guys will think we're totally mad when seeing the Gamsbärte.

lol...for what it is worth I spoke to stereo bob today who let me know that when you send a stock cd player to him you can inform him about the skipping issue. He can install a new....meaning updated technology...laser unit and check for "other" issues which contribute to the skipping. I asked him if he could gut the whole head unit and install new hardware...like say nakamichi..but retain the stock faceplates.....answer...no but a complete revamp will upgrade it about as good as it gets.

he gave me a few more things to try to end the skipping...I will try them and give a report. If no success, you can all send me $1.00 to be the test subject on a laser upgrade...jk...well no maybe not, donations acccepted

btw tobias he has never seen a stock cd changer and does not have a cd player I could buy for you ...oh well I tried.

ya we kinda got off topic there a few times didnt we...lol
