Stereo question

My car. 1988 FC3S GXL. Factory CD player currently in.

Well, it looks like my back speakers are 4" and so are my front. They have the built in amps.

I was wondering if I am going to be getting a Kenwood in-dash unit that is putting out 22RMS 50W max, do i need those amps to still be there? And, are there any adaptors that will let me fit bigger speakers into the back strut towers? I have some kenwood 5" or 6" speakers. I would like to put these back there. Any info would be great thanks.
