speakers that fit in a 94 R2 FD

I've done some forum searching and i realized that many people just modify their panels to install the speakers they want. I want to see what speakers would fit into an FD without any modifications... Been thinking about JL Audio's (front and back) but i also read that the depth maybe a problem for some...

Give me some of your thoughts/experiences! Thanks!

if you search you can find the measurements. Up front you can fit '6 in the door. The door speakers have to be pretty thin. I think 2 1/4 might be the biggest... Prob. a little bigger. You can put 6x8's in the rear for a direct replacement of the 5x7's. Personally, I'd throw the best speakers I could find in the doors and a sub in the back. The rear speakers don't really do that much anyways and the sub will help give you the "total" package of sound as well as fill some of the sound space in the back.

I think it's like 4.5, but it's the same bracket I believe as the non bose models...

i really wanted to get component speakers for the 94 R2, but i never seen a 4.5 component.... ... hopefully some stereo shop *might* be able to fabricate something for me.. or maybe someone who lives in socal can help me install... I'm looking to invest in a Avic D1 and change out the Blue led's to green.

I have found two sets of component speakers that might work in the doors. Alpine and MB Quart both make a set with 4" mids. I am thinking of going with one of those for the doors and putting a sub in the back.

Forget A/V, buy an exhaust and your radio will always be on station 13B-REW!

but if you must: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-GcZ4Enh...6vehicleid%3D0

I'm inclined to agree with 4CN Air's idea... station 13B-REW is far better. Especially when wound up. Let the exhaust notes fly!

i saw them in person, and they're shallow mounts . The magnet is actually in FRONT of the speaker allowing them to fit in our door panels just fine!

The stock non-Bose front speakers are 6.5". The FWM says they are 6.3", which is probably the cone size. They are just normal 6.5" dual cone speakers, and 6.5" aftermarket replacements fit perfectly fine so long as they aren't too deep.

2.5" is the mounting depth limit (and it is a tight squeeze at that -- 2.25" or less is better) before you have to start getting creative.

thanks man, i'm thinking about going component MB quarts in the front, and 6x8" components of mb quarters in the rear (8 speakers total) with a D1 in the dash. I want the best possible/OEM sounding bass available! I do NOT want my car to shake and rattle to the music lol... I have my home theater to do that... I heard MB Quart speakers have good natural sound reproduction... Hopefully I can get it done in the next 2 weeks...

Does anyone have any Boston Acoustics Pro series components in the doors of an FD? I just wanted to know if they fit with no issues.
