Speaker brands

I've been reading through past posts now for awhile... problem is a LOT of posts are really old... so I'm sure technology & opinions have changed...

I'm looking to replace my FD speakers (as I've got a few blown speakers currently).

5.25s in front
6x8 in rear
dual 8" subs

I don't want component & I want to stay at 8" subs (I know bigger is better... but I built a small sub box like DamonB's box.

I want the same brand for all speakers (because I'm **** like that).

Price range around $400 for the set.

Brands I've been looking at:

-Infinity (read to stay away from reference series, but Kappa series doesn't appear to have 8"s)
-MB Quart (although I don't think they have an 8")
-Pioneer
-Audiobahn
-JL Audio
-Kicker
-Polk

I've got an aftermarket head unit & a 300W 2-chan amp (for subs)....

Can anyone steer me in the right direction?

Right now I'm leaning towards

- 5.25 - Infinity Kappa 52.7i - RMS = 55W, Peak = 165W - $83

- 6x8 - Infinity Kappa 682.9cf - RMS = 100W, Peak = 300W - $88
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=15350

- 8" subs - Infinitiy Reference - RMS=200W, Peak = 850W - $65 (times 2)
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=18598

Total - just over $300

From personal experience I like MB quarts, they always have great prices and their qulity is good, also they have great customer services which is always a big plus in my book. To get a good sound you need balance. Dont just buy any speakers and expect them to do you wonders. If you want a good sounding system I would call Madisound or check out there online website just google madisound. They sell high end stuff like dynaudio and scan speak, morel. Very knowledgable, and they also provide graphs and detailed specs with most of their products. They seem to swear by HiVi or HiFi stuff they sell for a car kit. However call them with your budget and say i want a clean balanced set up, they will hook you up.
